My Quiet Time Was Interrupted by a Dog, a Child, and My Own Brain
I got three whole minutes of peace. It was beautiful.
I had a plan. I was going to wake up early, make coffee, sit in the quiet, and have a beautiful, uninterrupted time with God. I had my Bible. I had my journal. I had high hopes.
The dog found me at 5:47am. She didn't need anything. She just wanted to be near me, which is sweet, except she expressed this by putting her entire head on my Bible.
Then my youngest appeared in the doorway at 6:02, holding a stuffed elephant and looking at me with the specific expression that means "I know you said this was your time but I have a question about dinosaurs."
And then my own brain, which had been waiting patiently, decided this was the moment to remind me about seventeen things I forgot to do last week.
I got maybe three minutes of actual quiet. Maybe.
But here's what I've decided: God was in all of it. He was in the dog and the dinosaur question and the mental to-do list. He's not only available during the quiet. He's in the interruptions too. He's just that good.
